Adrian "Owen" Cook

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of my only son Adrian “Owen” Cook on May 17th, 2024. The RCMP of Yorkton, Saskatchewan came to inform us of his passing at 1:00 am on May 18th, 2024. Owen died of a drug overdose on Friday May 17th, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was all by himself by the time when they found him in one of the hotel rooms, it was too late. They tried to revive him 3 times, but he had already gotten cold to the touch. He tried numerous times to get clean but was unsuccessful; the drugs ended his life plus alcohol. He struggled with it for so many years, plus other health issues.

                Adrian “Owen” Cook was born on May 23rd, 1980, at Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Owen was a very generous, humble, kind man. He liked to tease and joke around with his family and friends whenever they all got together. Owen always had a big smile on his face. Every so often he would go to Grand Rapids to visit his cousins; Gordie, Pete, Jimmy, and Wanjon who he loved dearly. He also would take surprise visits to Sapotaweyak to visit family. He was always so happy.

                Owens went to school in Winnipeg, Manitoba and there he finished his grade 10. At a young age he enjoyed basketball and karate in one of the schools he attended. That school had a karate competition and he won first prize, he was so happy and proud when he brought his trophy home. I was so proud of him. He also enjoyed travelling with his family during the summer months camping.

                Owen is survived by: 2 sons, Storm Cook, and Justice Cook, 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter and 2 nieces Trina and baby, Carla and baby. Cousins Gordon Scott, Jimmy Scott, Peter Scott, and Walter (Mona) Scott. Earl (Donna) Cook, Christina Cook, Alicia Cook, James Cook, Ashley V, Stanely Cook, Richard Cook, Tyson Cook, Delbert Cook, Gerald Kematch, Riley Kematch, Lorraine Kematch, Connie Kematch.

                Owen is predeceased by his brother Jeffery Allen Cook (September 19th, 2019), Grandparents Moses and Christianne Cook, Aunties MaryAnne Scott, Georgina “Meldrene” Kematch and Lloyd Kematch. Uncles Gerald (Superman) Cook, Cousins Lawrence Cook, Nelson Kematch, Robert Kematch, Geraldine Kematch, Phillip Scott, Richard Scott, and a very special friend Grace. Sorry if anyone was missed, Owen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
