Albert Leask Obituary

Albert was born on September 2nd, 1946 in Swan River to Wilfred & Thelma Leask of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. He resided in Sapotaweyak as a child and young man; he met the love of his life, Flossie in his younger days, they eventually ended up spending the rest of their lives together happily in Dawson Bay, together they had one beautiful daughter Viola Contois and raised one son Melvin Contois as his own. Albert raised 3 grand kids with Flossie, Stacey, Bon & Richard. He enjoyed playing baseball, and watching his grandchildren and chapans play sports, he would enjoy going to watch his chapan Erin play hockey. He even went out onto the lake to watch her skate in the winter.

Albert always took his late grandsons hunting and fishing they had a cabin in Overflowing River for many years, where he took his family to camp and spend time outdoors. Through out the years Albert always spent his time with his partner Flossie, his grand daughter Stacey, and his chapans Erin & Albert (JJ). He was honoured and proud that his chapan JJ was named after him Albert Leask II. He would always make the time to visit with them every single day. He never wanted to leave them, he’d say “I want to live as long as I could for my chapans” He also enjoyed visiting with his family, his brothers and his sisters, and of course his friends.

Albert began working with his dad as fisherman at the age of 14 years, a few places he worked were Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting Company, West Fraser Mills (Edson, AB), he had plenty of jobs through out his life, he was a fisherman for the majority, he worked at Dawson Bay Fresh Fish for most of his years as a fish packer which he loved until his retirement at the age of 70 years.
