Andy Captain Obituary
Andrew James Captain Sr. was born in Gods Lake Narrows on July 7th, 1947. He attended the residential school in Cross Lake, MB at an early age. He also attended school in Winnipeg.
Andy had a great sense of humor and was very respectful of his elders. He loved the great outdoors. His passion was fishing, guiding, hunting, travelling, and helping his partner make birch bark basket.
He was employed as a youth worker, W.A.D.A.P., brighter futures coordinator until he retired at the age of 65 years.
Andy was very proud of his Sobriety. He quit drinking in Sept. 23, 1987 , through the AA program. He maintained his sobriety until his passing, so for 35 years he remained sober. He loved squaredances, AA round-ups and Coffee Houses. He loved dancing with Donna, and they were the best dancing partners for each other in their 45 years together.
Andy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Donna, his children; Mary Okena, Delores Flett, Andrew Captain Jr., and numerous grandchildren, adopted daughter Corrine Belanger & family, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and many friends.
Andy was predeceased by his parents Eli and Agnes, sisters, brothers, daughter Angela, and grandson Robert Scott.
