Calvin was raised in Ebb-N-Flow by his grandparents Adeline and Wayne. He had spent his summer holiday with his Aunty CC and other holidays with his mom and his brother Nathaniel. Calvin had loved being a big brother his siblings had meant the world to him – Jennifer, Samantha, Eric, Gwendalyn, Micheal, Alicia, Thomas, Eric Jr Cook, Kayla, Mavis, Reshonda, Rodrena, Dakota, and Tiffanie (also people he called brother and sisters). He was the protector for all of them. Calvin had a great sense of humor he would always leave you smiling, he had a kind heart and he would sit and talk with you for hours. Always making sure you were okay before he left. He enjoyed having coffee, listening to music, and smoking (hootz), wacky weed in the mornings, his quiet time before the kids got up. Calvin loved being a dad, celebrating all the major events of their lives. Calvin was loved dearly by his aunties Deet, Tracey, and Rhonda. Deet once told his mother that she was only proud of 2 men in our family and Calvin was one of them. Tracey would often stop in on him while he lived in Bacon Ridge. Rhonda had watched him when his mother couldn’t. Their favorite nephew was said more than once. His uncles were always hard on him to make sure he was a good man. In Calvin’s younger days he was known as the Singing Ranger, Grandpa would tell him to sing and he would pay him 2 dollars. Playing 007, Zelda, Donkey Kong was a great hobby between him and his brothers and sisters. When summer holidays came around Calvin and his brothers and sisters loved playing around making forts, climbing trees, play around the sandpits, and fishing at the creeks.
Calvin will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
The stars have called you home. Love, up high, so far away. I think they missed your brilliance, they just couldn’t let you stay. You’ve shone that light of yours, love on all the lives you touched. We’ve known your joy for years and years. I guess they thought enough. They need your light up there, now this world grows ever dark your you-ness will rain down like the love dripped every heart. The stars have called you home now we’ll miss you everyday and night. We’ll scour the skies to watch you where you lay. And when the clouds are gathering and air too cold to breathe the life you lived will warm our bones, and your star will help us see.
I remember taking him to Ebb-N-Flow school for his first day of kindergarten. At the age of 14 he won first place in the science fair, that first place took him to St. Johns, NFL one of his proudest achievements. He continued his education in Swan River taking the electrician course which sadly we won’t get to see that achievement.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
