Calvin Edward Campeau Obituary

Our precious son, Hoss, was raised in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation where he attended his elementary school years with the Neil Dennis Kematch Memorial School until he left for high school, graduating from the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in June 2016.  He continued his education at Parkland College in Dauphin completing Level I Carpentry. He signed on his apprentice with Aspen Builders, working his 900 hours with Aspen Builders to qualify for Level II Carpentry. He then completed Level II Carpentry at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, MB. He enjoyed working with the guys however, he was unable to stay employed with them due to an injury he sustained when he played sports.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, Swan River and Brandon, MB.  Growing up with his siblings, he attended Steeprock Bay Bible Camp, participated in Children’s Bible studies and attended gospel meetings with Pam, Kendra, Angel, Marteen and his dad.  As an young adult, he spent time in sports and with his ‘precious Gem’ Astrid Hrappstead.  She was the love and joy of his life.  He often spoke of his friends Drew Fischer and Jiggs, proclaiming these boys ‘HAD HIS BACK!!!’  He enjoyed working out, fishing, trapping, hunting, quadding, getting wood with his dad and brothers.  His dad travelled with him to many places for fastball, and hockey tournaments across Canada and into the United States. Early in his childhood, Hoss and his mom developed this “BluePrint”, when given a task and/or challenged, he pressed on until it was conquered, completed and succeeded, he just did everything he could to be the best he could be.  He made his parents proud. His reaction would be “what’s next mom?”

Hoss leaves to mourn, his daughter Astrid Daryn Hrappstead (her mother Kacey); his parents Paula and Calvin Campeau; his sister, Pamela (Braeden Ferland), brothers Noah, Moses and Solomon; nephew Brady Ray Hoss Campeau; Choom and Granny Edward/Bertha Campeau; Kokom Lucy Audy, Vitaline (Roderick) Sinclair; chooms Alec and Albert Audy; Robert (Katy), Elmer (Anita), John (Melba), and Albert (Flossie) Leask; Aunts Ann Mary Audy, Karen (Theodore), Peggy Audy, Lorraine Chartrand, Koreen Audy, and Delores Campeau, Jennifer (Frank) Campeau, and Louella (Pearly) Chartrand; Uncles Ephrem (Sophie) Sakayigun, Chap, and Clayton Audy; Danny, Martin (Tracey) and Edwin (Nicole) Campeau; and numerous cousins.

Hoss was predeceased by his grandparents William John/Maria Audy, great-grandparents John Robert/Betsy Campeau, Wilfred (Boss)/Thelma Leask; Aunties Thelma Awoyemi and Valerie Campeau; Uncle Clarence Campeau; Cousins Jamie Genaille, Celine Genaille, Poundmaker, Sherona Sakayigun, John John Audy, Samantha, Suella, Stephanie Leask, Kimberley Kematch, Colin Junior, Coleen and Rodney Brass, and Kathleen Audy.
