It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charles “Keith” Robb who peacefully passed away on October 2, 2024 at the Swan Valley Health Facility following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Keith was a beloved Brother, Uncle, relative and friend. He touched the hearts of many in his travels at home and abroad. He was born in Swan River, MB., December 22, 1950 to William (Bill) and Effie Robb of Minitonas, MB.
Keith received his education in Minitonas. While in school and after Keith worked at his parent’s garage business in Minitonas. He worked a brief time in Winnipeg, and like many young men, headed West to Alberta. While working in the oil industry, he lived in many countries, such as; Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Italy, Russia, Japan, USA, and Kazakhstan. When Keith witnessed the battle ships sailing by his apartment window, while living in Kazakhstan, he thought it was time to leave. His mother’s constant worrying was probably a deterrent to stay as well.
Keith had many passions. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and in the last few years, spending time on his farm cutting trails. A passion near to his heart was travelling on his Goldwing motorcycle listening to tunes. He put thousands of miles on his bike yearly. Keith had owned 13 new Honda Goldwing’s in his life time. They had all the bells and whistles. He would join up with his favourite travelling buddies, Steve, Wayne, Grant and others from Medicine Hat and go where ever the wind took them. Keith would often decide he was going west to visit his friends and off he’d go. Once there, they would often head down to Moose’s Salone in Kalispell, Montana, for Red Beer and Pizza. An annual event was the Three Flags Bike Trip. They would start off in various Canadian cities, travel through the US into Mexico, attend a banquet, then turn around and race home. In his approximately 18 years of participating in this event, he had lots of fun and stories to tell, or not.
Kieth will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help. He was a quiet, gentle, generous and patient man. If you ever needed help with anything, he would be there in a heart beat. He tried to make everyone happy and loved having people stop in and visit with him. He loved spending time with all his family. When his nieces and nephews were little, they would plop themselves on his knee, sometimes three at a time, and continue to crawl all over him ending up on his legs getting a ride. He seemed to enjoy every minute of it. They always wanted Uncle Keith to pull them on the tube because Dad went too fast and through the reeds. Keith was well known for his generosity and willingness to help. He was an active member of the Minitonas Lions Club. He flipped many a pancake and was always someone they could rely on to help with whatever needed to be done.
Keith will be sadly missed by his brother Bill and wife Shelby, sister Judy Antonchuk and friend Ralph. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Effie Robb, brother Cameron Robb, brother-in-law David Antonchuk, and nephew Kyle Robb.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Minitonas Community Hall on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 1:00PM to pay tribute to the life of Keith.
Should relatives and friends so desire, memorial donations in Keith’s honour may be made to: The Swan Valley Health Facilities – specifically the Chemo Department or the Palliative Care Unit.
