Daniel Albert Brown was born in Parry Sound, Ontario on January 25, 1933, the eldest of 9 children. After completing grade 9, he studied to become a hairstylist. This was his life vocation and he became well-known in that field.

 

His flamboyant and outgoing personality propelled him forward, as he established himself owner & lead stylist in two successful beauty salons in Toronto and Richmond Hill. In 1966, he moved to Los Angeles where he opened a salon there. Throughout his career he was known to clientele from all walks of life: hockey player wives, movie stars, the rich & the famous.

 

He was a successful & popular oil painter, accomplished vocalist, cook and actor; a man of many talents who liked to try new things. His gregarious spirit made him an easy person to know and love. 

 

As a young adult, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord & Saviour at what may have been Billy Graham's first Canadian crusade in Toronto. Unfortunately, this decision did not bear fruit until Daniel was 65 years of age, at which time he was baptized and did an abrupt about face in life. Subsequently, during the last 20 years, we saw a different man.

 

He spent the last years of his life a resident of the Swan Valley Lodge. While his persona was diminished, it was ever present to those who knew him and those who met him.

 

He leaves with wonderful memories: 7 brothers & sisters; Duncan (Jean), Mervyn (Marjorie), Bessie (George) Dixon, Clayton (Marny), John (Diane), Edith (Bill) Scott, Jim, two sons; Robert (Jennifer), Greg (Connie), 2 grandchildren; Rachael (Andrew) Borley, James (Gabrielle), 2 great-grandchildren; Stanley and Ernest.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Henley and grandson Matthew.
