It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom; Darlene Sharon Brass, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility, Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan at the age of 60 years old. Sharon, as we all knew her was born on January 14,1965, in Birch River, Manitoba to (Late) Edna & Harold Brass. Everyone who knew Sharon, loved her family, her children (late) Adrian, James, Sonya, Francine, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon was a friend to many; she had a special relationship with her two closest friends; Valery Gott and Lorraine Genaille.
During the Summer, you would find Sharon picking sweetgrass, she would help her dad with harvesting sweet grass. She looked after her dad, Harold, always checking up on him, to see if he needed help at home or to run his errands for him. Sharon worked as a custodian for Neil Dennis Kematch Memorial School for many years, she also worked as a Homemaker for our Elders in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. She will be missed by many, especially her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She not only raised her children and grandchildren but she also kept her nieces and nephews, and she also helped Cynthia with her two boys; Keith and (late) Cody Tucker.
Sharon attended Pelican Rapids School and she went on to attend high school in Dauphin, Manitoba. She stayed at McKay Student Residence; at the time it was one of the Indian Residential Schools. Sharon didn’t realize that she was one of the many survivors of the Indian Residential School. Sharon’s kind nature, welcomed many to her house, a place to eat, sleep or visit with each other.
She will be remembered by her children; Robert James Brass (Melanie), Sonya Brass and Lorna Francine Cook (Kenneth) friend Leroy Cook, her grandchildren; Serenity, Jaici, Adrian Jr., Aqua, Jamie, Sharissa, Shanahan, Romeo, Romy, Kaidence, Comrie, Ethan, Adam, Lytrell, Adrianna, Diamond and Adrienne, and her great grandchildren. Her dad, Harold Brass, her aunties: Stella Norman & Rita Gott, her uncle; Alpheus Brass, her brothers; Gordon & Edward, sisters; Elizabeth, Norma (John), Lorna (Darrin) & Loretta, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sharon was predeceased by her grandson, Rowen James Cook-Stevens, son, Adrian Brass, brother, Robert Brass, her mom, Edna Eva Brass, grandparents; Andrew & Elizabeth Brass, Abraham & Mary Gott, aunties; Louise Cook, Doris Brass, Dorothy Gott, Lorna Kematch, uncles; Ambrose Gott, Edward Gott, Sidney Brass, Brother-in-Law; Lambert Cook, nephews; Darryl Brass, Dallas Brass, & niece; Brianna Gott and numerous extended family members.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped us with the wake and funeral arrangements. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Thank you.
