David Stewart Brown of Swan River, Manitoba passed away in the Swan Valley Hospital on February3rd, 2024 at the age of 89 years just shy of his 90th birthday.
Dave was born on March 29th, 1934 in Swan River to Jim and Ethel Brown.
Dave attended school at the Little Woody School until the 8th grade and then went to work on his parents farm.
After Dave married Beth in 1955 they moved up to Trout Creek on his father’s land; that was until Beth was expecting the first grandchild and the harsh winter conditions pushed them back down to the homestead.
Dave served as a crop adjustor for the Manitoba Canada Crop Insurance group for a few years in the 70’s.
Dave also served on the Swan Valley School Board for over 25 years; he took pride in furthering the education of the valley’s young people.
Dave and Beth loved music; it was an integral part of their lives. They thoroughly enjoyed playing the piano and organ for the Little Woody Church for many years as well as providing music for events and occasions around the valley.
Dave enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends near and far. He would often get calls from people who just needed someone to listen and maybe offer some advice.
The Brown’s Boxing Day party was always a big hit with the family, friends and the community. Playing games and visiting until the wee hours of the morning provided fond memories for all.
Dave is survived by: Murray Brown (Maria), Penny Reuben (Kevin McGee); daughter-in-law Pat Brown (Norman), Connie Brown, Laurel Oxford (Mark) and Gwen Brown (Kevin Dygos) along with 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
