Donna Gaylene Boyce (Yeo) passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on February 14, 2025 at the age of 79 years. Donna was born in Swan River, MB on September 7, 1945 to Earl and Fae Yeo. She grew up in Bowsman, MB, and at the age of seventeen pursued LPN training in Dauphin, MB. Donna fell in love and married Herb Boyce of Swan River on June 4, 1966. They moved frequently in the first years of marriage, finally settling at the acreage just north of Swan River, where they lived for many years.
Donna stopped her nursing career when her three children were born so that she could dedicate herself to raising them. During this time, she also managed an upholstery business, at which she excelled. Being self-employed allowed her to stay home to raise her children, and in turn, further instilled in them the value of hard work.
Once her children were teenagers, Donna and Herb opened their home to provide foster care to 86 youth needing extra support. Donna found fulfilment in caring for all of the kids that shared their home, and thought of them as if they were family.
When her children left home, Donna became a Home Care Attendant with the Home Care Program, and enjoyed providing compassionate care to all her patients. She sought to make a difference in the lives of others at the end of their life.
Donna was predeceased by her husband Herb, and she leaves behind her children Trevor (Lorelei), Tara (Lee), Trina (Ron), Shelly (Howard), and her grandchildren Derek, Jade, Jane, Laura, Rebecca, Samantha, Gabriel and Georgia and great grandchild Archer. Mom will be missed by everyone who knew her as she was a lovely, caring soul. We want to thank the team at St Boniface Cardiac Sciences Centre on CR4 and CR5 for providing such amazing compassionate care to mom. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the support we received.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes cremation will take place.
She will be laid to rest on a day when the sunshine feels warm, surrounded by family, in the Bowsman Cemetery, Bowsman, Manitoba.
