Edward "Balloon" Campeau Obituary

In Remembrance

Dad unexpectedly passed a day before his birthday January 4, 2023 at the Swan River Hospital surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Shoal River.  Dad was a hard-working man & he supported his family.  He logged and worked on farms in the area in his younger years then fished after getting his fishing license in 1960.  He worked for forestry, everyday he climbed the tower.  He told us every year he saw the geese fly in April 4.  He loved to trap, hunt and watch hockey. He worked for Pelican Rapids public works for 20 years until he retired.  Fastball was his passion in the mid eighties.  He was the Coach for the PRCC Fastball team which travelled to BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, & all over Manitoba.  Dad served as an Elder for the SCN Land Advisory Board at the time of his passing.  2020 he started to fundraise for the Sapotaweyak Sox Fastball Club, he wanted to start a fastball team with the youth. He took the Sox Fastball to their 1st OJI Cree Fastball Tournament in Brandon.  He was really proud of the Team.   Every year he took Mom to Kettle Hills to pick blueberries, Fort Qu’Appelle for the Treaty Four Gathering, Swan River Rodeo & Brandon DOTC Days.  Their 59th wedding anniversary was coming up January 21. Dad enjoyed his daily rides up the road, watching hockey & baseball on TV or on site.  His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his Grandchildren & Chapans and teasing them. He enjoyed telling stories to them from the past.
