Elizabeth Brown Obituary

Elizabeth “Beth” Anne Brown of Swan River, MB passed away in the Swan Valley Hospital on June 9th, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Beth was born in Swan River on June 21st, 1938 to Mac and Edith Boyce. She received her education in Swan River, her grade 12 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, then with unwavering determination at the age of 60 received her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Manitoba.

Beth married David Stewart Brown on July 30, 1955 in Swan River. Together they resided on the family farm and then more recently, Aspen Courts, right in town. Beth was the mother to 6 children, they lovingly adopted 5 of those. During her life she was a teacher’s aid, a teacher at Community Bible Fellowship Christian School and Birch River School as a kindergarten teacher. Her love of teaching went outside of the classroom. She taught numerous children how to play the piano and taught Kinder Music to pre-school children.

Beth’s interests included, but are not limited to, her love of the piano, gardening, knitting, journaling, reading, cooking, and canning.

Beth is survived by: her beloved sweetheart, David of almost 65 years on July 30; her children Murray Brown (Maria) and Penny Reuben (Kevin McGee); daughter-in-law Pat Brown; children Connie Miller, Laurel (Mark) Oxford and Gwen Brown (Kevin Dygos); 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents James and Edith Boyce; great-grandson, angel baby-Mikayah Cruz born March 3, 2013 and passed away on March 5, 2013; grandson David Cox on September 30, 2019 and by her son Norman Brown on April 19th, 2020.

 

In keeping with Beth's wishes a private interment will take place at the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba.
