Helena Mary (Mink) Brass

Helena Mary Brass (nee: Mink), better known as Mary, passed away unexpectedly on February 20th, 2022 at the age of 61 at home in Novra, MB. Mary was born on September 18th, 1960 to Stephen and Christina Mink in The Pas, MB. She grew up in Grand Rapids, MB with her adopted parents the late Leona and late Bruce Cook. Mary received her education in Grand Rapids where she met the love of her life, Thomas Brass. They were married on June 29th, 1991 but have been together for 43 years.

Mary lived in The Bluff and Winnipeg before moving to Baden, MB where her family resided for over 20 years. She finally found her home in Novra with her family where she lived for the past 15 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Throughout her years she loved to listen to her husband play his guitar and sing. She always made sure her family had everything, even when times got tough.

Throughout her life, Mary worked various jobs including, homemaking, housekeeping and janitorial work. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, children and husband. She had many hobbies like playing poker bingo and candy crush. Her favourite way to spend her time was visiting with family and friends but she could be found enjoying watching the hummingbirds feed in the summer or picking, cleaning and braiding sweetgrass.

Mary is survived by: her husband Thomas (Tom) Brass; children, John Mink (Kim), Eva Unger (Travis), Steven Brass, Yvonne Mink and Richard Mink; sisters, Alice Mink, Doris Head (ken), David Mink; step sister, Jennifer Umpherville (Irvin); half brother Raymond (Jones) Mink; half sister Miranda McKay (Garry) and all her nieces & nephews as well as aunties, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention by name; grandchildren, Eden Brass, Steven Brass Jr., Iris Brass, Lochlan Brass, Carter Brass, Ellis Mink, Kiera Unger, Arya Unger, Hunter Clarkson, Arys Leask, Draze Mink, Constance Brass, Creedence Brass, Tommy Mink, Niko Mink and Maddison Mink.

Mary was predeceased by: her father Stephen Mink; mother Christina Mink (Wesley); brother Stephen Mink Jr.; granddaughter Praize Mink-Giroux; grandson Clayton Mink Jr.; uncles Tom, Alpheus, Joshua, Walter, Noah (Nancy) Mink, Abraham Mink; grandmother Alexandra Mink; grandfather Robert Mink; mother-in-law Louisa Zastre (Cook); father-in-law Lawrence Zastre; late father-in-law John Peter Brass; sisters-in-law Rose Brass and Adeline Brass.
