It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom; Irene Elizabeth (Lynch) [Cocks] Glasscock. Mom passed away January 20th, 2025, at the age of 92! She was born on September 10th, 1932, to Dick and Reta Lynch in Ethelbert, Manitoba. They lived on a farm in the Minitonas area then moved to Kenville, MB for a time, then moved again to Prairie River, SK. Her mom cooked for Sawmill Crew and cleaned homes for others. Mom attended school in Prairie River, SK; when they moved back to Manitoba, she went to Allenville school and Minitonas school.
Mom married dad, Reg Cocks on November 20th, 1950, and they lived on a farm in Renwer MB, where they raised us. Bill, Bob, and Pat! After dad passed away in March 1967 and us children had finished our schooling; she went out to work off the farm. She worked at Valley Meat Packers for a long time before working at the Swan Valley Co-op Meat Department until she retired!
Mom met Gordon Glasscock during the time we children had grown up; they married on November 29th, 1974. Mom and Gordon resided on an acreage in Minitonas R.M. until 2012 when they moved to Swan River, MB. In her retirement mom really enjoyed her coffee times with friends and family at the Emporium in Minitonas and Kolisnyk General Store n Cowan, MB.
Mom cherished her time spent with her best friends and helpers Pat Hancharyk and Evelyn Landen. Pat took her out and about town to her appointments when we, the family, were not able to do so! Their times often ended in coffee at their favorite places like: A&W, Dairy Queen, Pizza Place, or Chicken Chef where they met with many of mom’s other friends! As mom’s health began to fail, Evelyn was always there to check on her well-being and got her whatever she needed, especially in her time just before hospitalization! Both these ladies were very special to mom and us too!
Left to mourn moms passing are sister Alice Mackenzie and her family of Winnipeg, MB (Darrel, Wanda and Kevin and their families), Sons; Bill and Sharon Cocks of Minitonas, MB, Bob and Toni Cocks of Red Deer, AB.
Mom will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by her 7 grandchildren and spouses, and 9 great-grandchildren.
