Jean Lois Hayes, formerly of Minitonas, Mb passed away on July 30th, 2024 at the age of 99 years.
Jean was born in Minitonas on July 30th, 1925 to the late Cubby and Irene Danard and grew up there eventually meeting her husband Lloyd and beginning her life with him.
Jean was a devoted wife and mother, always supporting Lloyd’s work needs with her ability to pick up and move the family and then settle in again. Wherever the family landed, Jean made sure that it felt like home.
Although homemaker was her most notable and beautiful skill, Jean dabbled in the work world a little taking on and trying new jobs; post office clerk, meat packer, store clerk andresort manager to name a few. Jean was so fond of the time she spent as a resort manager in Kelowna (1976-1986) and spoke of it as if it was one of her favourite and most memorable roles.
Jean had a love of curling and bowling and later on in her life she enjoyed watching BlueJays Baseball games or curling on TV. She could often be caught working on a crossword puzzle. Thousands of books graced Jean’s eyes and she was an avid reader until her vision began to fail. She was skilled with her hands whether it was tending to beautiful gardens, cooking a delicious meal or sewing and knitting various items for her family. Jean was always witty and her sense of humour, a trait that served her well and everyone enjoyed, will always be remembered.
Jean was so invested in her family and gave her children a wonderful childhood. She was the proudest grandmother to six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Cherishing sweet memories of Jean are: her son Jeffrey (Enid) Hayes, daughters, Joanne Hayes and Elda (Jack) Lapsiuk; sister, Marlene Reitlo and brother Irvine Danard as well as her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean was sad to lose: her brother, Beatty; her parents; her husband, Lloyd of over 65 years, and her daughter Jackie.
