Joseph Sutherland Obituary

Joseph Allan Sutherland was born on April 5th, 1947 to the late George and Emily Sutherland. The family announces his passing on February 15th, 2023 in Dauphin, Manitoba at the age of 75 years.

Joseph always loved working in the bush along with his dad and family. He was taken out of school in grade 3 to help his dad and his mom. He was very friendly and outgoing. He liked hunting with his cousins. He enjoyed being outdoors. He liked his Hank Williams and his wine, triple X & 74 (lol). He loved to dance although his pants fell down. Awwwe. Our dad could be funny at times. That’s exactly how he was. He also liked fixing his car back in the day when we were all kids. I remember there was me, dad, Randy and mom and we went by Pine River for a ride. Mom and dad met when mom was 18 and dad was 19. That is when they got married and started a family. He would hang out with Alfred and Harold and worked with Clifford S. and his dad George.

Joseph was predeceased by: his wife Barbara, his parents George and Emily Sutherland; Sister Anne-Marie Chartrand and grandchildren, Kerry Sutherland, Jorden Sutherland, Tessa Sutherland, Dell Sutherland and Mindy Kematch.

He is survived by: his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Norma, Rose, Allan Jr, Sandra Ruby and Randy; Eran, Jeremiah, Justine, Gladys, Elloitt, Stephan, Wanda, Todd, Mandy, Wendy, Jewels, Patricia, Jessica, Vern, Kaitlyn, Shauna, Thomas, Megan, Emily, Chris, Jayden, Thomasina, Tamara, Jillisa, Rene, Monique, George and Randy Jr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dad was very outgoing and didn’t like to be home much when he knew there was work out there to be done. Dad had 6 kids with mom. She passed a few years ago now. No matter what dad was always that person to give you anything. He had a good heart He loved his kids and his grandchildren. To him the kids were always small. He knew that Lil Girl was going to be graduating – Thomasina 2023. He said he wanted to be there to watch her grow up. He was all excited at least. We know dad was always that one person to make everyone laugh, especially if he knew they were mad. He’d change the subject. He was a kind, caring and loving man to his family and friends. He’s definitely going to be missed by his children, Norma, Rose, Allen Jr., Sandra, Ruby, Randy and he is with mom now. His family; his grandchildren; are going to miss him so much. Dad we love you so much.
