Joshua Lavallee-Chartrand Obituary

Joshua passed away on Friday, May 24th, 2024 in Duck Bay, MB at his home with family by his side.

To know Josh is truly a pleasure. Josh took his time but his determination to do something and get something done drove him to achieve many goals.

Joshua grew up in Duck Bay. Attending school and playing sports. Joshua enjoyed basketball and from an early age was part of the high school basketball team.

Joshua is a protector; Josh had a great personality with a laugh that was contagious and could light up the room.

Josh achieved many great things in his short life. He was a hunter, a fisherman, a basketball champion, a member of committees, an accomplished square dancer, Metis Week champion, a participant in everything and a hero.

Josh enjoyed time with family and friends. Traveling, hanging out and playing video games. Joshua enjoyed the outdoors and took any opportunity he could to be out hunting, quadding or scouting a new hunting spot. Joshua was a sweetgrass person who enjoyed participating in tradition.

Joshua loved his family. He loved visiting and spending time with his loved ones.

Joshua was a hero. For the last three years Josh was a firefighter with the Manitoba Wildfire Service. He enjoyed his work very much and took pride in it.

Joshua had traditions as a child that he enjoyed. He would attend the Swan River Rodeo with his grandpa Tommy every year. Josh would also play Santa Claus every year at Christmas time where he would deliver gifts and candies to kids in the community. Joshua would also visit his family in Cormorant every year during Christmas holidays.

Wherever the light meets the darkness I know it is your presence that will shine through and carry me through life’s greatest challenges. I promise to love you beyond the lines of time.

Joshua leaves behind: his parents, Thomasina Chartrand & Matthew Parenteau; Hector Lavallee; siblings, Shauna Chartrand (Kyle), Francesca Chartrand (Samuel), Alissa Chartrand (DJ), Josiah Chartrand and Josephiah Parenteau; his niece, Franastasia Chartrand; his partner Pauline Dysart and their 2 dogs, Cujo & Chloe (Josh really loved his dogs); godchildren, Aurora & Kawhi and numerous other relatives and friends.
