Kenward Michael Chartrand

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of our baby/big brother Kenward Michael Chartrand on August 24,2025

Kenward (Kenny/Ken) Micheal Chartrand was born on July 15, 1972, in Swan River MB to the parents of Adeline and Micheal Chartrand, he lived in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. Then he lived in Durban MB for a short amount of time with dad (Big Mike) and step-mom Virginia. Ken grew up in Winnipeg until 2003, then moved to Brandon, Ebb n Flow, Broadview, Saskatchewan, The Pas, Swan River MB and finally settled to come back home to Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. Ken (as we always called him) completed his grade 12 GED. He worked at maple leaf in Brandon as a butcher and also in Broadview, SK.  He was cook in The Pas, MB and casual home maintenance worker for our elders in Sapotaweyak. Ken loved going out on the lake and camping with his brothers where he enjoyed hunting and commercial fishing, and also loved when our oldest brother Earl would come and visit him time to time and make sure the he was ok when he needed something. He loved doing beaded puzzles and playing a little bit of slots at the SCN vlts. He was a single father to two beautiful Girls Michelle (15) and Laci Chartrand (13) who he loved so much and was always by their side until his passing.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters Michelle and Laci Brothers: Earl (Delma), Larry, Albert (Crystal), Augustus (Brandy), Michael (Melissa), Stanley (Elizabeth) Sisters: Geraldine, Tracey (Martin), Rhonda (Merle), May, Martina and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
