It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, sister-in- law, auntie, kookum, and friend, Lana Alma Leask, with her four daughters, grandchildren, and family by her side. Lana was a kind-hearted person, who loved to laugh and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. She always loved to joke around and make everyone laugh, and was always willing to go on a bingo adventure. She was always willing to help
others. She loved camping with her grandchildren and family at Kettle Hills and Fort
Qu’Appelle. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her children, grandchildren friends & family. She was born at the Birch River hospital to Thelma & Wilfred Leask, youngest daughter of the family of 12 children. Lana was raised in Pelican Rapids & Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. She received her education at the Pelican Rapids School up to grade 9, then at the Frontier Collegiate Institute in Cranberry Portage. She gave birth to 4 beautiful daughters and she loved raising them in Sapotaweyak with her loving partner the late Eldon Quill. She dedicated 37 years of her life as a daycare worker in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation. Lana was an athlete all her life and enjoyed participating in slo-pitch and the annual Treaty Days events.
She supported her grandchildren with their sports, especially hockey. She took her grandchildren Comrie, Rhett, Hallie, Cassy, Farrah, Ethan, and Langston all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan to attend their hockey games and tournaments.
Lana leaves to mourn her passing her daughters Melanie (James) Lindsey(Peter), Melva (Dane) & Sundance; granddaughter Hayden that she raised grandchildren Kaidence, Comrie, Ethan, and Adam, Hallie, Rhett, Farrah, & Cassy, Abby, Langston, & Heatley, Dayla & Dayna; Sisters: Bertha Campeau, Nellie Leask, Sophie (Ephrem) Sakayigun, Brothers; Albert (Flossie) Leask, John (Melba) Leask, Robert (Katy) Leask, Elmer(Anita) Leask.
