With great sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother, Leonard Alcide Gambler on January 7th, 2023 at the age of 78 years old.
Leonard was born on November 13th, 1944 at Gambler’s Point in Pine Creek First Nations. He lived as Gambler’s Point up until the age of 5 when he was taken away to attend the residential school. Upon completion of school, he left Pine Creek to seek employment. He worked at Limestone for many years. He was also a firefighter.
Leonard completed and mastered his carpentry skills. He enjoyed building things and furnished his home by making his own table and chairs.
Leonard could always be found at Pine Creek Powwows. He attended with his staff and participated in Grand Entry.
He enjoyed spending time with family and was always making time for his nephews: playing cards or just driving to town to shop.
Cherishing his memory and left to mourn are: siblings, Cecile Gambler-Nepinak (Ed Johnson), Therese Gambler (Richard), Rene Gambler (Susie) as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leonard was predeceased by: his parents, Gaspard & Isabelle Gambler; siblings, Johnny Gambler, Rose Gambler-Moosetail (Laurent Moosetail), Percy Gambler (Lillian Gambler), Mike Gambler, Patrick Gambler and Benedict Gambler; and daughter, Sherry Gregory.
