Lynda Phillips Obituary

LYNDA PHILLIPS

It is with a sad heart we announce the passing of my sister, Lynda (Bowen) Phillips on
September 22, 2019 at the age of 70 years.

Remaining to cherish Lynda’s memory are: her sister Nancee (Russ) Grundy; Niece and goddaughter Theryl Grundy (Eric Molto); nephew and godson Matthew Grundy (Mary Louise Davis);  great nephew Bertram Grundy;  godsons  Edward and Andrew Shao; sister-in-law Mary (Steve) Butler; nephews Ambrose and Joel Butler; aunty Kay McGregor; many many cousins; Forever Friends; Sisters of her heart (you know who you are), neighbors; work family and community at large.

Lynda was predeceased by her husband Melvin Phillips and her parents Buck and Lolean Bowen.

Lynda was born on July 5, 1949 in Birch River at Mrs. Norval’s Nursing Home. Her early years education was at Drury School and she graduated Grade 12 at Birch River Collegiate.  Lynda worked at Eatons in Winnipeg and after marrying Mel in 1969, made her home in Thompson, MB. for several years.  She started working for Bank of Montreal and enjoyed a 30 year career with them, first in Thompson and then Swan River.  Lyn and Mel moved to Swan River in 1974 where she continued her career in the banking and financial industry until her retirement from the Swan Valley Credit Union in 2014.   Her customers and members were very important to her.

Lynda loved to travel, visiting family in England, vacations in Florida, Hawaii, Barbados, Roatan and Eastern Canada.

Lynda liked and lived a quiet “no fuss”  lifestyle, always willing to help out, usually behind the scenes.   She quite possibly never realized the positive influence she had on so many people.  She loved horses, animals, birds and nature, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, crossword/jigsaw puzzles, coffee with friends, yoga, walks in the rain………..not enough space here to list all of her specialties.

In compliance with Lyn’s wishes,

A “ Come and Go” Celebration of  Life  social afternoon

will take place on Oct 19th between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM

at 306 Crescent Dr. Swan River, MB.

In Lieu of flowers, Lyn’s wishes are that those wishing to do so, may make a donation to the Swan Valley Animal Protection League Box 2375, Swan River, MB, R0L 1Z0, Community Foundation of Swan Valley Box 1509, Swan River, MB R0L 1Z0 or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Cremation has taken place at Heritage Memorial Garden, Swan River, Manitoba.

Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium is honoured to have served the family.
