Marie Minnie Palmer passed away on January 4, 2024 with her husband Edward by her side. She was born on December 14, 1936 in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan.
Marie was the daughter of Frank and Lucille Hess and was raised in Ratner, Saskatchewan and attended the Sandhill Creek school.
In 1973 Marie met her soulmate, Edward Barrow and began building their life together. Over the years, Marie lived in various places such as Ridgedale, Ratner, Flin Flon, The Pas, and Swan River.
Some of the jobs she did through her lifetime were at Brooksby Hotel, Joe's Taxi, Victoria Hotel, Saan Store, Penny Power, Woodies Goodies, and Skyline Hotel.
Marie was an avid homemaker and gardener, she loved animals and was well known for training dogs and horses.
Marie and Edward Barrow enjoyed fifty one wonderful years together in the Swan River Valley on their family farm. They did everything together; from farming, to fishing, to camping and special trips like their big adventure on the Churchill River. In 2021 Ed and Marie bought a house in Swan River and moved into town.
Marie leaves to mourn her passing: her husband Edward, two daughters; Carolyn (Harvey) Baldwin and Sandra (Wendyl) Kooistra, daughter-in-law Angela Palmer, four grandchildren; Jeffrey (Tenial) Palmer and their children; Keenan, William, and Rowen, Travis (Lorissa) Palmer and their son Ryker, LeeAnne (Mark) Fletcher and their son Coulter, and Lana (Brett) Church, her sister-in-law Marie Greider (and family), brother-in-law Rob Barrow (and family), 1 niece, 5 nephews and many extended family members and friends.
Marie was predeceased by her son Richard Palmer and her sister Dora and husband John Armstrong and her nephew Frank Armstrong and half brother Vern Olson.
A funeral service was held on Friday, January 12th, 2024 at the Swan Valley Historical Museum. Marie was laid to rest in the Birchwood Cemetery following the funeral service.
