In Remembrance
On September 23rd, 2022, Marilyn Galbraith of Pretty Valley passed away with her sister by her side. She fought a long battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born to Fraser and Margurite Vessey in Swan River. She was the eldest of five children with Barb, David, Cam and Rob joining after her. Growing up on the farm outside of Kenville, Marilyn talked about memories of neighbours swimming at Fox's bridge and Sunday family gatherings with Uncle Mac and Aunt Joy and kids.
She met the man of her life at a young age and they dated for quite a number of years before getting married. They were blessed with four beautiful children Patrick, Jason, Matthew and Katelynn (Puddsey). Matthew passed away at a very young age, but they managed to move on with him in their thoughts every day.
Marilyn loved her yard and flowers and grew a big garden each year. She worked in a salon and once she started a family she worked from home with a salon in the basement and also doing books for the company. She was very proud of getting her GED and went to work for the School Division for 15 years.
Marilyn collected many names throughout the years but her favorite was Grandma.
Each of us had our own time but Thursday night was family night at Mum and Dads. Katelynn would come herself and then the little ones started showing up and Katelynn would pack them up rain or shine and have some family time.
Summers spent at the Roaring River are some of our best memories. Coming home to smell fresh baked bread and each of our favorite desserts made at Christmas will be remembered always.
Mum was only ever a call away and had our backs no matter what was happening in our lives. She taught us all what is really important in life, to love and care for family and friends. It was a great privilege to have her as our Mum.
Love you
