It is with sadness but also gratitude for his beautiful life that the family of Maurice Lawrence Roberge announces his passing on March 14th, 2022 at the age of 91 years.
Maurice was born on June 16th, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to the late Emma Roberge. He was raised by Phileas and Eglantina Roberge who he came to know as his parents. He grew up in Bowsman, Manitoba and received his education there.
In 1952 Maurice began his life of living many places across Canada due to his enrollment in the Military. Maurice married his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Jamieson in November of 1955. Maurice and Dorothy grew their family welcoming three children, daughter, the late Denise Lafontaine, daughter Gaylene Dzugan and a son, Marcel Roberge. In 1979 Maurice and Dorothy began the privilege of raising their grandson James, who they considered their 4th child, in their home. James remained with Dorothy and Maurice until just before they moved into Swan River for their retirement.
After Maurice was finished serving in the military he worked in Thompson, Manitoba from 1974-1990 as a heavy-duty mechanic. He then made his way back to where he grew up and resided in Bowsman from 1990-2002 where he retired but kept busy as the mayor of Bowsman and an icemaker at the local rink. In 2002 Maurice truly retired when he moved into Swan River where he resided until the time of his passing.
Maurice was a well-respected community member and upstanding citizen. He was always kind and he made many friends throughout his lifetime. His presence in the Swan Valley will be missed by his relatives and friends.
