Melissa Anne Boyko

Melissa Ann Boyko was born on August 28th, 1993 at the Swan Valley Hospital. Her first few years were spent being raised in Renwer, MB. She loved going to the neighbor’s house, Alex Jermoluk as he would spoil her rotten. The family then moved to Swan River until the age of 5 and then it was on to Kenville for a brief stay where she started school at Heyes School for a year. The family then moved Minitonas where she attended school at both Elementary and Middle School.

During her childhood in Minitonas she loved going camping, swimming and fishing. She loved her noon hour sports at school. One day she came home madder than a hatter during floor hockey season. She was a goalie and was so mad that one of the stampeders scored on her.

She loved horses and her dog, Ginger. She was a happy, sunny girl.

At the age of 18 she lost her father. She then moved to Swan River where she resided until her passing.

At the age of 19 that happy, sunny girl slowly disappeared as she was diagnosed with mental illness.

It’s been a long ten years of watching her battle the illness and the toll it took on her body.

She passed peacefully in her sleep on November 17th, 2022.

Please don’t be sad but rejoice that she is finally at peace after a tough 10 years of battling mental illness.

She was predeceased by: her father Jerry Boyko; her special grandfather, Alex Jermoluk; grandparents, Norman & Nettie Woodley; step-grandparent, Jack Specht; step-uncles, Ormond Specht & Valley Specht; Uncle, Maurice (Moe) Bylana; cousin, Kyle Bushenlonga.

Melissa is survived by: her mother, Darlene Specht (Quentin); her brothers, Michael Boyko (Oliver & Donald) and James Bruce (Sharon); step-brother, Dale Day as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Carrying Melissa to her place of rest is her brother, James Bruce.
