Murray Arthur Parsons passed away peacefully at home on October 29, surrounded by family.
Murray was born on October 6, 1935 to Melvin and Ethel (nee Fothergill) Parsons of Bowsman, Manitoba. He was the eldest of three boys and spent his early life helping on the farm, playing baseball, and curling.
It was at the Bowsman Curling Rink where Murray and Vena would start their great love story. They married in July of 1956 and raised their three boys on the farm outside of Bowsman. A dedicated father, Murray and Vena loved to spend their summers camping as a family, and he was proud to have volunteered as a 4-H leader for his boys.
The leadership and dedication only grew as their family did. As a grandpa, Murray always ensured they were first to arrive at any dance or piano recital, sporting event, school concert, and any other event his grandchildren had. He was constant presence and made each of his grandchildren feel like whatever they had going on was the most important thing in the world.
Murray is lovingly remembered by his sons, Kelly (Mary Ellen), Owen (Monica), and Darcy (Corinna), as well as his brother, Ken (Wilma), his sister-in-law, Tina, his grandchildren, Kathryn (Jordan) Basso, Christina Parsons, Amanda (Alex) Hart, Jared (Sarah) Parsons, Ryan (Jessica) Parsons, and Saralyn (Andriy) Marchyshyn, and great-grandchildren, Emmett and Everleigh Basso, Tristan, Lauren, Alistair, and Dominik Hart and Amelia Parsons. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Ethel (nee Fothergill) Parsons, his wife Vena, and his brother, Jim.
He truly believed that he was put on this earth to make the world better for those around him, his approach was that of kindness and compassion for all he encountered. Looking back on 90 years, it's hard to summarize a life so full. Whether he was Mr. Parsons, Murray, Dad, Grandpa, or any of his other names over the years, he was someone that could be relied on for honesty, integrity, and quiet strength.
He will be missed more than any of us can put into words, which is a beautiful sign of a life well lived. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. His family looks forward to sharing memories, stories, and his legacy at a memorial event planned for Spring 2026.
Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium are honoured to have served the family.
