Murray was born in Shoal River, Manitoba (Sapotaweyak) where he lived until his passing. He was the last of the children of the late Mary Quill.
Murray was a carpenter, hunter, trapper, builder and fixer. Over the years when Murray was able to work he worked at Wuskwatin, on the railroad, logging and he built a lot of houses in Sapotaweyak as well as the Neal Dennis Kematch Memorial School.
He was a hard worker and had good work ethics. Murray attended and supported community events such as bingo and fundraising. Treaty days were his favourite time as he liked to go compete in games and races. He laughed as he told of his efforts of trying to win. Videos say it all on how he was a good sport and having a good time.
Murray enjoyed going out on the land with is hunting partner, Cecil Kematch and sharing laughs with his friends at the “Tavern.” He was happy doing that.
Murray is survived by: children Mary Quill, Orlena (Colomb) Price (Kyle Price); grandchildren – Darly Ducharme, Dale Colomb, Freya Price, Zoey Price and Joseph Gott; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, choomies, chappans and tanisko chappans as well as many friends.
Murray was predeceased by: his parents Mary Quill and Herbie Kematch; his sisters, Victoria (Walter), Christina (Bill) Moore, Lillian (Norman) Audy, Nancy (Donald) Genaille and brother Eldon Quill and numerous other extended family members.
The family would like to acknowledge Cecil Kematch and the Sapotaweyak Health Workers and the Swan River Paramedics who tried their best to save him.
