In Loving Memory of Myrna Darleen Savard
Aug 30th, 1942 – July 5th, 2025
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Myrna,
Myrna Darleen Savard, beloved daughter of Mabel and Ervin Behrmann, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the age of 82 from Cancer at the Thompson General Hospital. Born on August 30th, 1942, in Swan River, Myrna grew up in the Swan Woody on the family farm. One could say, being the only daughter, and surrounded by 4 brothers, she was extremely loved, & protected, we won’t say spoiled, maybe just a little pampered.
Myrna was one of the first students to attend school in the Swan Woody District. This is where she met Melvin, a young man from Lenswood. a short time later Melvin asked for her hand, it was on April 8th, 1960, in the Anglican Church in Swan River, they married. This was the start of their story, an adventure that took the new couple, Mel and Myrna Lowe, North to Thompson, to make a new home and start a family of their own. With Melvin working for the Nickel Mine Inco, Myrna was busy setting up a home for their future. It was in 1961 that they started their family, built their first home, and planted roots. Courageously facing a long illness, Melvin passed with Cancer on October 18th, 1981, at the age of 45, leaving Myrna to carry forward his memory and their shared dreams, raising their children with the same love, courage, and devotion that defined their life together.
Though heartbroken, she found strength in her children and faced each day with the courage to move forward. When the opportunity presented itself, she grabbed it and opened a bulk food store in 1985.
After everything life had taken her through, she wasn’t looking for love again—but then met Raymond Savard. It started simply, by a conversation that turned into hours, and before she knew it, she had found someone who brought laughter, kindness, and strength back into her world.
They decided to close the store, and enjoy each others company, and travel, so with their puppy Benji in toll, they were off. Eventually they relocated from Thompson to Prince Albert, where they bought a home & married on Dec 26th, 1998.
This is where they resided till Raymond’s untimely passing in September 1999. Myrna moved back to Thompson for a short time then to Winnipeg, were she resided until 2016. With her family all in the North, Myrna moved back to Thompson to live with her daughter and son in-law till her passing.
Myrna lived a life filled with grace, strength, compassion, and kindness. She touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and deep consideration for others. Those who knew her will remember her kind heart, her beautiful smile, her steady presence, unwavering love for family and friends and the way she always made others feel seen and valued. Her warmth, resilience, and wisdom will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Myrna will be remembered not only as a wonderful daughter & sister but a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a woman who gave endlessly of herself to those she loved. Her life was a beautiful example of patience, loyalty, and unconditional love.
