Nicky Sasyniuk Obituary

Nick Sasyniuk, age 74, passed away peacefully on June 22nd, 2021 at the Swan Valley Health Centre in Swan River, Manitoba with his family and his friend Gail, by his side.  Nick was born to Nick and Anne (Cheek) Sasyniuk on October 12, 1946.

When Nick was 15 years old, he met Linda Dalton and that was it for him! They married April 12, 1969 and raised their son, Reid, together.   Nick’s first job was delivering bread and then began to work at the Co-op in 1965 until 1978 when he opened up his men’s clothing store he lovingly named “His Place”.  In 1983, he closed his store and began to work for the Saan Stores.  Nick and his family moved to various cities within Canada with the Saan Stores for 25 years.  In 1998, his son Reid met Charlene and they married in Winnipeg in 2000.  Nick and Linda moved back to Swan River in 1998.  He loved his job managing the Swan River Veterans Community Hall.  His wife of 37 years unforthunately passed away in 2006.  Nick started to work at the Super 8 in Swan River as maintenance and loved to tease all the staff and make them laugh.  Nick started his own business as well of lawn care and passionately continued both jobs until he passed away.

Nick was known to be very meticulous with his house cleaning, grass cutting, and vehicle maintenance.  He always wanted the best deals on whatever he bought.  He had a passion for his 1948 Pontiac he bought for his wife Linda when she was just 16 years old.  His love of cars deepened and he started up  “Cruise Night” with some friends and they proudly displayed their vehicles at car shows and on the road!!  Nick enjoyed travelling and has been to Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Las Vegas with his family and his sisters.  He was often found spending time with his good friend, Gail.

Nick was pre-deceased by his wife Linda (Dalton), his father Nick Sasyniuk, his mother Anne (Cheek)Sasyniuk, and his uncle Mike Cheek. Left to keep his memory alive is his son Reid and his wife Charlene, sisters Bev Sasyniuk and Lorain Stasyszyn, and his brother Richard Sasyniuk and several of his nieces and nephews.
