Pete (Peter) Kereluk of 209-7th Ave N passed away at the Swan Valley Hospital on February 24th, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Pete was born in Canora, Sk on June 22nd, 1930 to William & Mary Kereluk.
Pete received up to Grade 7 at the Bowsman School
Pete did various jobs throughout the years, mostly involving farming. In 1956, Pete went to Snow Lake to work in the mine, then later returning in the fall of 1957 to help Orest on the farm with harvest. In 1958, Pete and Orest took over the family homestead full-time, raising over 120 head of cattle and acres of land together over the remainder of their years. In addition to running the homestead, both boys cared for their parents, William and Mary until their passing’s in 1966 and 1980.
In 1975 Pete suffered a stroke but had a full recovery after a month in the hospital. Later that year volunteered to help his brother Ed at the garage on Highway 10 and Minitonas turn off.
In 2008, the brothers made the hard decision of moving off the farm and transitioning to town. The transition was made easier as their sister Olga lived two doors down from them. Pete enjoyed chatting with old friends and family over coffee, gardening, spending time outside, attending auction sales, and most of all farming. Pete was known in the family for his green thumb. He would take you around the corner of the house, where you would find the most perfectly round red tomatoes hanging. No matter how the season turned out, Pete had tomatoes to share and to show off. Pete will be missed dearly by close family and friends and his ability to light up the room with his smug laugh and one of a kind personality.
Pete is survived by his brother Orest of Swan River and sister Vicky of Calgary; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and a great-great niece.
Pete was predeceased by his Brothers Edward and Victor and sisters Olga, Helen, Grace, Anne and Lorraine.
