Philip Maurice Katcher, passed away suddenly on September 18, 2025, in Swan River, Manitoba, at the age of 87. Born on August 25, 1938, in Dauphin, Manitoba, Philip lived a life marked by joy, dedication, and deep connections to his family and community.
Philip was a man who embraced life with open arms and an ever-present smile. His warmth and good humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A familiar face to many in Swan River, he was a beloved presence at Ace Hardware, where he spent his days surrounded by both colleagues and customers who became like family. His daily presence there was more than routine—it was a testament to his love for people and his commitment to being part of the fabric of his community.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Darlene; daughters Donita Jewell (Allen), Debbie Katcher, and Phyllis Katcher (Laurie); son Philip Katcher; stepchildren Richard Metcalfe, Loril Scales (Rob), Marla Metcalfe (Bruce), son in-law Lance Beach, and Arron Metcalfe(Carrie); grandchildren Meganne, Tristen (Mélanie), Riley (Jenna), and Tynan Metcalfe (Jody); Robynn Kooistra (Tanner), Mattlyn Scales and Hollin Pratt; Logan and Hudson Beach; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind cherished sisters Victoria Swinarton, Pearl Yarema, Gloria Newhouse and Helen McNaney; sister-in-law Marilyn (Victor) Lakusta and brother-in-law Matthew (Caroline) Holinaty.
Philip was predeceased by his son Clarence; granddaughter Erica Jewell; sisters Mary Derkatz Evason and Annie Muzaka; brother Peter and brother-in-law Dennis Holinaty.
His legacy lives on not only through his family but also through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and unwavering positivity. Whether sharing a laugh at the hardware store or offering a helping hand to those around him, Philip's spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him.
A family service will be held at Paull Funeral Home, 506 2nd Street N, Swan River Manitoba.
