Walter William Michael Kolisnyk

Walter W. M. Kolisnyk of the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman passed away in Swan River, MB on June 20th, 2023 at the age of 68 years.

Walter was born in Swan River on December 18th, 1954, to Walter and Dorothy Kolisnyk.  He received his education at the Dunkenville & Minitonas Schools. After receiving his GED he received a post-secondary education in Brandon, Mb at Assiniboine Community College.

Walter resided in the Renwer area his entire life and farmed from an early age with his dad on the family farm. He continued to farm with his brothers until he retired.

Walter enjoyed being involved in the community and as such sat on many different boards and executives throughout his years. He enjoyed his time on boards such as the SVCU, SVSD, MASC & Swan Lake Watershed & District to name a few.  His most recent position was as a councilor for the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman. He was an avid Elvis Presley and hockey fan through his life. Politics and working on the CAT were also activities he participated in.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Kolisnyk.  He is survived by his siblings Ken, Deb, Doug & Teena; his children Tara, Michael & Shaina; and his grandson Logan, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private family service took place on June 29th, 2023 at the St. Francis Anglican Cemetery – Dunkenville, MB as per his wishes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16th, 2023, for those that wish to attend and share some memories and moments they have of Walter. Details will be posted closer to that date.
