Wake Service: Friday March 8th, 2024, beginning at 2:00 pm at her residence in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, MB

Funeral Service: Saturday March 9th, 2024, at 2:00 pm Dawson Bay, MB

Funeral procession will leave at 2:00 pm from Sapotaweyak Cree Nation and proceed to Dawson Bay, MB

Honorary Pallbearers: All of Wilma’s closest family and friends are considered as honorary pallbearers.

Resting Place: Following the service Wilma will be laid to rest in Dawson Bay Cemetery beside her mom, Tanya Melissa Leask

In Remembrance: Wilma Crystal Leask- Chartrand was born on December 28th, 1997, in Swan River, MB to her late mother Tanya Leask and her father Albert Chartrand. Her moms second baby girl. It is with great sadness we as a family announce the sudden passing, she shattered her sisters’ hearts losing her so suddenly.

Wilma grew up in Sapotaweyak, MB surrounded by her parents, sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunties, and cousins. She was raised by her grandparents Virginia and late Micheal Chartrand. Throughout her years she spent a lot of time with her mom in Dawson Bay, MB and The Pas, MB when she lived there. Wilma always loved to spend time with her sisters, they had a very close bond. Even when they grew of age to move away. After her mom passed, she took care of her sisters and cared for Arys. Wilma was always happy, loved to joke around with her quick-witted personality. She always made people laugh and smile. She loved her skirts and hats. Wilma enjoyed her kookums company who she was close to and always travelled with Viriginia, they shared many road trips. Wilma graduated grade 12 at NDKMS school and attended Winnipeg and Brandon for more schooling. Eventually she returned home and started working at the band office in Sapotaweyak, she was the first person you would see, welcoming you with the biggest smile. She always made everyone feel welcomed as they stopped by. Wilma also worked closely with the late Lyle Leask. Both will be forever missed by who knew them.

She leaves behind her dad Albert Chartrand, her sisters; Remona Chartrand- Leask (Brad), Paradise (Mckenzie), Arys Leask, Haley, Augustina Greeley, Brother Dominique, and her special friend Frank Jr. Cook. Her maternal side; Inez Dano (Reynold), Tracey Leask, Ian Leask, Rena Henderson (Rick), Leola Cook, Percy-Racheal Cook, Gerilee Martel (Zack), Halana Gott (Dvane), Derry Hellwege, Lena Genaille (Sub), and Robert Gott.

Paternal Side; Augustus Chartrand (Brandy), Micheal Chartrand (Melissa), Stanley Chartrand (Elizabeth), Martina Chartrand, Tracey Campeau (Martin), Geraldine, Rhonda (Merle), May Chartrand and Kenward.

Her Grandparents; Virginia George (Clifford), Selena Cook (Dennis), and Roger (Kim) Gott.

Wilma joins; her mom Tanya, niece Tabitha Munro, auntie Jana-Lynn Gott, Blennie and Albert Gott on her mom’s side.

Dad’s side; Micheal Chartrand, Uncle Corey Chartrand. Natasha Chartrand, Andre Chartrand, Reshonda Maytwayashing, and Calvin Chartrand.

The family of Wilma Crystal Leask would like to thank everyone for their emotional and spiritual support. The financial support from the community will be forever acknowledged- Ninanas Komonan.
