Francis Stevens Obituary

Jackfish AKA Francis/Here comes the Thunder of Wuskwi-Sipihk First Nation, Manitoba passed away in Wuskwi-Sipihk First Nation, Mb on April 10, 2020 at the age of 48 years. Jackfish/Francis was born in Swan River on August 30, 1971 to Frederick and Robina Sinclair. Jackfish/Francis was the fourth oldest of eleven children.

Jackfish/Francis loved his family very much, he thought the world of them. He was always happy to see his siblings, nieces, nephews and grandpas. He was such a proud grandpa.

Francis was a very proud Cree man. Very traditional.  

Francis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, harvesting medicines, picking blueberries out in Kettle Hills with his family which he had done for most of his life. Francis loved to go to Kettle Hills every year to camp and pick blueberries. Francis loved his outdoor time. He did many activities outdoors. In his younger years Francis loved to play baseball and hockey.

Francis was a very kind, gentle man, he would help whoever needed help. He loved to laugh and joke around. He had a wicked sense of humor.

Francis was a councillor for his community for 18 years. He was very dedicated to trying to help his community. He loved his community.

Francis is survived by his Sisters: Elsie, Peggy, Twylla, Eva, Doreen. Brothers: Marcel (Flora), Greg “Teeko”, Robert “Pupp” (Rita), Children: Ariah Larstone (Elijah), Destiny Gott, Anthony, Frances “Baby Girl”, Gregory, Willian, Uncles: Nickleson (EmmaJane), Roderick “Groom” (Vitaline), Nikki.  Many numerous nephews, nieces, and grandpas.

He was predeceased by his parents Frederick Stevens and Rubina Sinclair. Grandparents George and Christine Stevens, Mariah Sinclair, John William Kematch “Choonis”, Brothers: Roderick and Roland Sisters: Audrey, Jessica, Rhonda, Veronica. Uncles: Phillip, Douglas, Delbert, Jim Sinclair: Roland, Clifford, Calvin, Michael, Bert Brass:  Roy and Bill Stevens. Aunties: Mina Cook, Doreen, Eva, Rosalie Brass, Pauline Stevens. Daughter Tye-Lynn Stevens. Baby Stevens-Moore. Nephews: Lester Brass Jr. Niece: Kerri-Lynn Cook.
