It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our brother. George William Popoff peacefully passed away at Swan Valley Lodge on November 01, 2022, at the age of 88.
George was born at the family homestead in White Beech Saskatchewan on January 06, 1934, to William and Pauline Popoff.
George worked on the family farm until the early 70’s when he moved to Leaf Rapids, Manitoba to work in the mine. George worked in the mine for 25 years before retiring in Swan River making it his final home.
In 2016 George moved into the Swan Valley Lodge which he loved and way very proud to call his home. George spoke highly of the staff and his treatment. This was also evident to the family seeing George and staff joke. George verbalized numerous times how he felt the Lodge was the best place for him because he got the very best care.
George was predeceased by his brothers: Alex, John, Fred, Andrew, Joe, William, and Sam Popoff; sisters, Katie Kosolowsky, Pauline Barnhardt and Margret Woytkiw.
George will be deeply missed by his sisters Judy Woytkiw, Mildred (Victor) Firomski and Doris Stroud. Too many nieces and nephews to mention.
The family would like to thank Swan Valley Lodge staff for the most wonderful care over his last years. The love and compassion shown to George will always be appreciated. Judy will not only miss her weekly visits with her brother but will miss all the staff.
The family would also like to send heartfelt thanks to Dana Paull (Paull Funeral Home) for your guidance and compassion. You make everything so much easier on families and for that we are grateful.
In keeping with George’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
